Post-Independence Era: Bridging the Educational Gap In the post-independence period, the rural region of Gadhinglaj faced a severe lack of educational opportunities. Founded in 1956 by the visionary Late T.K. Kolekar, S.S. High School Nesari emerged as a beacon of hope, addressing the educational gap in rural Gadhinglaj. Today, it has expanded into a network of five esteemed institutes under the umbrella of Shikshan Samiti Kasba Nesari. Under the astute leadership of H.T. Kolekar, our organization has achieved unprecedented growth and expansion. We now offer a comprehensive educational journey, spanning from Nursery to Bachelor’s degrees in Arts, Commerce, and Sciences.

Prataprao Gujar, born in Bhosare village near Khatav in Satara district, was a distinguished cavalry officer and Senapati of King Shivaji's army, known for his guerrilla warfare prowess. Shivaji bestowed upon him the title "Prataprao" for his valor against Mirza Jaisingh. In 1674, Prataprao was tasked with defeating Bahlol Khan, an Adil Shahi general. After surrounding Bahlol Khan's camp in Nesari and cutting off water supplies, Prataprao defeated and captured him. Despite Shivaji's warnings, he released Bahlol Khan, who soon resumed hostilities. Shivaji's displeasure drove Prataprao to confront Bahlol Khan again, despite being heavily outnumbered. Leading a desperate charge with six other Maratha officers, they were all killed. This impulsive act was a significant loss for the Marathas. However, Shivaji’s forces, under Anandrao Mohite and others, later avenged Prataprao's death by defeating Bahlol Khan. Shivaji honored Prataprao by arranging the marriage of his son Rajaram to Prataprao’s daughter, who became Maharani Tarabai. ..
